The PADIAS program, a 52-hour course conducted under the Authority of Franklin Pierce Law Center and taught by members of Lowe Hauptman Ham and Berner, LLP, was sponsored in cooperation with the Asia Pacific Intellectual Property Association and Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan. The PADIAS program is designed to familiarize its participants with the US patent system, including patent application drafting, amendment preparation, non-infringement and invalidity opinion preparation, etc. The course is taught by well-learned instructors including, a Federal Circuit judge, and experienced patent attorneys; and is designed to teach current laws, future trends and practical skills that would help participants in their daily practice.

Each participant who finished all assignments and passed the final exam received a certificate issued by the Franklin Pierce Law Center and signed by Dean Susan Richey, of the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Hon. Judge Randall Rader, of the Federal Circuit and Prof. Benjamin Hauptman, Mr. Yoon Ham and Mr. Randy Noranbrock, of Lowe Hauptman Ham and Berner. Further, those participants who achieved in the top one-third of the entire class received the caption “with honors” in their certificates.

The 2009 PADIAS program was so successful that many companies, schools, and non-profit organizations from different countries are asking about the possibility of having the same course taught in their cities/countries. Right now, we are planning to offer the program in Taiwan, Japan,India and Korea in 2010; and will provide an advanced course for those who have already completed the initial PADIAS program.
